About Staveley Edge Centre

We began as Edge in this building with rented space for an office and a communal area which we turned into a free community café and warm welcome space. Then as the community and projects grew over the following 2 years we took over more of the building- this has culminated in a 10 year lease of the whole building from the Methodist Circuit!

About the Staveley Area

Once surrounded by coal mines, Staveley had a rich industrial history as a mining town as well as being home to chemical works, an ironworks foundry, and an engineering works. Since the decline of industry across the UK, some of the local colliery land has been reclaimed and repurposed, while much of it lays untouched or lined up to become developed into housing projects.

The CDRC’s Index of Multiple Deprivation identifies Staveley in the most deprived decile across England, that’s the bottom 1% in areas such as housing, education, health, and employment.

Staveley Edge Centre is overseen by our Chesterfield leadership team:

Karen Tullett, Steve Martin, Lee Tuttle, Andrea Hutchinson, Gemma Carneiro, & Katie Meadows.

Lee Tuttle

Centre Co-Ordinator

Lee oversees the day-to-day operations at Staveley Edge Centre. With an eclectic background including social care, night club security, and deep-sea trawling Lee is a man of peace who brings calm in to situations. Father of one he lives in Hollingwood and has been part of the Edge Faith Community for a couple of years, finding a place to fit and belong for the first time in his life. Lee enjoys watching Marvel films, listening to heavy metal music, building Lego with his daughter, and helping people- particularly those who find themselves stuck in cycles of addictive behaviour. Lee sits on our leadership team, and gives practical support at the Staveley Centre making sure our projects can run smoothly.
